Update Your Summer Skin Care Routine Today!

Suns out, buns out! The heat is saying Hi to everyone! Hair-tyed and fresh-faced. Summer is here, so treat your skin to a little TLC. With the right summer skincare, you can rock your natural rosy cheeks and soak in that vitamin D with ya bad self. With the hot weather and bright sun, you may be spending a lot of time soaking in some UVs and will notice a change in your skin from those dry winter months. Switch up your skincare routine to keep up with the seasons!

Change your formulas!

If you were using a cream cleanser and moisturizer to keep your skin plump and soft over the harsh winter- then it’s time to toss those to the side! Opt for a gel cleanser (or foam if you’re a lil’ shinier these days) and moisturizing serums and gels. These products will wash away or completely absorb into the skin and they don’t leave as much of a layer behind. This is optimal for summer with the heat and humidity- creamier products can cause pore blockage and breakouts! Milk Cosmetics (I’m so in love with them!) has some great gel-formula products, and you can find a good cleanser at your local drugstore!


Say it with me: ex-fol-i-ate. Don’t go into a new season rockin’ the same dry skin as last season! Freshen’ up your face with a bi-weekly exfoliant. Just twice a week, use your favorite face scrub to lightly work all that old dead skin away for a bright new you! This can help your skin look younger, too! You can easily make a DIY scrub with some granulated sugar + honey (olive oil, coconut oil, few drops of tea tree- just throw in whatever feels right to ya)!

SPF boo- nobody wants wrinkles!

I know you’ve heard it a million times before and yes I’m gonna say it again! Use SPF! Do it! Every day. Put that sh*t on your face! Buy an SPF that works with your skin type- I know it can be tricky to find a good sunblock for oily summer skin, but I promise you it’s out there. I love the Origins A Perfect World with SPF 40 and it doesn’t make me shiny or turn white in flash. Then there’s Milk who has the perfect light-coverage SPF that you can wear under your full coverage foundation if you just must be opaque! You can also grab a mineral powder SPF to re-apply over makeup if you’re gonna be spending a long time in the sun with ya bad self and a beat face. No excuses now boo- SPF!

Hydrate your body and skin.

Another important step in the summer with the heat and especially if you’re in a dryer region- make sure you chug that H20! Stay hydrated throughout the day and your skin will be thanking you for it with plump soft features. Lack of hydration can make your skin look tired and and haggard and emphasize yummy under-eye bags! Skip the sugary soda or margarita and grab some water babe!
